ARANAB OF REPUBLIC IS IN JUDICIAL CUSTODY (!)

ROURKELA: In shocking news Mumbai police Wednesday trace passed the residence of Arnab Goswami Editor-in Chief of Republic channels early morning in a abetment case to suicide of 2018. As it is seen in the television that police is forcibly picked him up and took into custody and approached the judicial Magistrate for a police custody for 15 days which was in the late evening turned down by the court and approve a judicial custody for 15 days.
But the most uncomfortable thing is, a media person that to Editor –in Chief of a national TV channel which stands number-1 in PAN India was dragged to police station like a petty criminal and the security was so arranged for the cause was unprecedented, as if they are going to catch a hard core terrorist. This incident was so big that it should be reported by all media houses but unfortunately other media persons in electronics media are silent as if nothing has happened but they are forgetting that if this brutality is happening to a media man like Arnab Goswami then it can be happened to any other person in any state in our country.
A wrong precedent is started which will certainly going to harm the democracy, if the Apex court interventions is not made on time. It has been for some time we observe that Maharashtra Govt. has shown vindictive attitude against Arnab, it is clear from their action but fearless Arnab goes on writing against the Govt. and a reported whatever is lawful in common eyes. Now protest is going on everywhere in various states against this highhandedness of Maharashtra Govt. This case has shown the adamant nature of Maharashtra Govt., despite knowing the fact that whatever action they are going to take will be telecasted live and will be viewed globally because Republic channel is seen globally and Arnab is very popular news anchor. Other media’s silence surprised many intellectuals, certainly is not a good sign. One may have professional rivalry but not up to this extend that they will not utter a word for this man. Every media channel is making noise in their respective channels that we fight for the truth and we will show and bring the injustice to the limelight but it didn’t happen in this case.
Now it is proved that this all are false assurance and they are cheating the common viewers who are eagerly waiting to see impartial news. It’s a double standard shown by many media houses by keeping mum in this occurrence, gives immense pain. Ultimately it is a win-win situation for Arnab and Republic because the more they will be targeted they will become more strong and popular. We always talk about democracy and media’s role in it inaction to this injustice will certainly affect the authenticity and existence of this pillar of unbiased reporting.
