USE OF GREEN & BLUE DUSTBINS’ BeMC ENFORCEMENT ACTICE IN CITY

Berhampur: As the solid waste management is the key to safe and clean environment, the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) had started the blue and green dustbin campaign to segregate the dry and wet waste and garbage’s..

Friday BeMC, Berhampur enforcement squad comprising of deputy commissioner, enforcement officer and sanitary inspectors have conducted raids and  carried out awareness creation for proper dustbin use and ban on plastic at city high school road, Subbarao square and Mardaraj vending zone area.

During the raid from different establishment the enforcement team collect as penalty amounting Rs.25,000/-.

Notably, In 2016, the BeMC had started installing colour-coded waste bins – green for biodegradable waste and blue for non-biodegradable waste. In many places, multiple dustbins can be seen but unfortunately they are not successful in doing the job of waste management. The civic body had put up dustbins at all 40 wards across the city.

BeMC Commissioner, Chakravarty Singh Rathore, said, to create further awareness dustbins were given to the vendors against the fine collected.
