STF,ODISHA SEIZES LIVE PANGOLIN IN SUBARNAPUR

BHUBANESWAR: On the basis of reliable information STF conducted a raid near Rajakothi,(Mahanadi Over bridge),Sonepur about a deal of sale of live Pangolin and Pangolin scales by wildlife criminals in this afternoon on Saturday.
As a result of which two accused persons namely Somanath Bag of village Kapasira under police station Ulundu, Subarnapur,Odisha and Marasalen Bhengera of village Gindhilamal ,Uttar Pradesh were apprehended.
One live Pangolin and 5.Kg.065gm of Pangolin scales and other incriminating materials was seized from his possession.
The accused Ashok could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of such live Pangolin and Scales, for which he has been arrested by STF and forwarded to court of SDJM Subarnapur on Sunday.
In this connection STF has registered a case u/s.379/411 r/w.51 of wildlife protection act.
The seized items will be sent to Wildlife Institute of India, Deheradun for chemical test and the investigation is ON.
