NEW DELIVERY-SYSTEM OF LPG CYLINDER WILL PREVENT MALPRACTICES, BUT MORE NEEDS TO BE DONE
Bureau,Odishabarta
DELHI:Public-sector oil-companies for home-delivery of domestic LPG gas-cylinders have adopted new system whereby consumers will have to provide code-number received on mobile-numbers to delivery-person. It will prevent malpractices of LPG-dealers in black-marketing of LPG gas by making bookings by themselves in name of consumers who might not have made any booking.
But this is not enough. Presently oil-companies and Union Petroleum Ministry make frequent appeals for voluntary surrender of gas-subsidy by those whose family-income exceeds rupees ten lakhs per annum. Instead of expecting voluntary compliance, consumers of domestic LPG should be required to file affidavits about family-income. This will drastically reduce LPG subsidy-burden on the exchequer because those not having voluntarily surrendered subsidy will then avoid filing wrong affidavits to get subsidy.
Net payable price including of all central and local taxes should be rounded in multiples of rupees ten or fifty, because delivery-persons never return balance-money. System will further reduce financial-burden on the exchequer because of LPG subsidy. At least LPG, if not petrol and diesel, can be brought under GST network for uniformity of prices throughout the country.
New-look translucent LPG cylinders made of fibre-glass ensuring tamperproof full-load supply of LPG gas per cylinders should replace old iron-cylinders with iron-cylinders discontinued to be manufactured in future. All public-sector oil companies dealing in sale of LPG, petrol and diesel should be merged to drastically reduce unnecessary overheads in running so many companies.
