EXPLOSION ROCKS AT PETROL STATION NEAR RAJ BHAVAN IN BHUBANESWAR

BHUBANESWAR: A loud explosion ripped through a petrol pump station near Raj Bhawan in the State capital Wednesday noon. A fuel tanker initially caught fire which later led to the fire mishap, reports said.
As many as three fire tenders have been pressed into service to douse the flames at the spot after a huge fire spit out from the spot following the explosion. Many people are believed to have suffered serious injuries during the mishap, said Twin City Police Commissioner Sudhansu Sarangi.
As per the source, Sarangi,CP informed that one of the two CNG storage tanks exploded causing the fire to spread. In order to prevent any further mishap and fire outbreak to the nearby situated petrol and diesel tanks, the entire stretch of road between Raj Bhawan and Capital Hospital has been cordoned off by the commissionrate police.
“A vibration under the ground followed by an explosion took place when were were filling petrol in our two-wheelers at the station,” an eyewitnesses said.
Till last reports came in, efforts were underway by Fire personnel to douse the flames. Police have cordoned off the area and advised denizens to stay away from the spot of the mishap.The official figure regarding the casualties was yet to be known, several persons were reportedly injured.
