COLLECTOR, SUNDERGARH INAUGURATED LEMON GRASS FARMING IN LATHIKATA BLOCK

ROURKELA: Amid corona effect, Nikhil Pavan kalyan, Collector Sundergarh has inaugurated Lemon Grass farming in Lathikata block in 15 hectares of land. Under MGNRHA and under supervision of Udyan Krishi Department Lemon grass farming has been encouraged in the area. Lemon grass business is a profitable business with low investment but the profit out of it, is very good. Out of this Lemon grass oil is extracted in a technical process and is sold in the market which is used massively used in medicines and in other manufacturing process. The approximately cost per litre is Rs.900/-  and it can be harvested thrice in an year and it facilitates better profit. Initially in 5 hectares of land 12 farmers have started this business. The collector is expecting to start this farming in others blocks of the district and for everybody’s information, this farming is already started in Lahunipara block and it will spread to other areas as well. Though this arming is new to this area but farmers of these areas will quickly adjust themselves in such type of farming. In this inaugural ceremony many Govt. senior officials were present and they were Jagateswar Behera, Dy. Director, District Krishi Udyan Department, Tareswar Pani, Dy. Director of Panposh Udyan Krish Bibhaga, Anjan Ku Panda of DMF and other officials of the state Govt.
