OTDC TRYING BEST TO REVIVE TOURISM SECTOR IN ODISHA, SAID CHAIRPERSON SHREEMAYEE MISHRA.

Bhubaneswar:The Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) has been trying to revive the tourism sector of the state despite the COVID-19 onslaught, said Chairperson Shreemayee Mishra.

Speaking on the 41st foundation day of OTDC on Thursday through video conferencing, Mishra said the corporation has been badly hit by the pandemic. It’s 21 Pantha Nivas and two transport units have been dedicatedly working for COVID Warriors by providing them food, lodging, and transport. She added that the endeavor by the corporation in this regard is going on.

Mishra said OTDC has undertaken different activities like light and sound show-the Destination Wedding, global tour packages, Dandia yatra in Dussehra, sand art exhibition on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, tour packages to Satakosia, Khelo India, Zomato, Swiggy, and other customer-friendly online packages.

Renovation work of different Pantha Nivas is being undertaken to cater to the demands of tourists, she added.

“During the ongoing Corona pandemic, the OTDC has arranged a programme Ama Ghara Ama Handishala, and cakes were sent to potential customers through Pitha On Wheel,” Mishra said, and added that a special tour package ‘Banabhoji’ was organized to attract tourists to different locations of the state.

The OTDC has taken the sponsorship of a white tiger “Spandan” at Nandankanan on the request of forest department. A special audio-video has been released entitled ‘Athithi Devo Bhava’ to invite tourists from India and abroad.

The OTDC Managing Director, Sachin Ramachandra Yadav, thanked all those who have extended their cooperation to the corporation and urged them to lead it on the path of progress.
