CLERK CAUGHT RED-HANDED WHILE ACCEPTING BRIBE

BERHAMPUR:A clerk of the treasury office in Phulbani was today caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe from a retired employee.

The accused, identified as Arup Kumar Mishra, was working as a senior clerk at the District Treasury Office in Phulbani.

According to SP Vigilance Berhampur, Mishra had demanded Rs.3000/- from one Pramod Kumar Panigrahy, retired assistant of the Fishery department in Phulbani in order to process his arrear bills. Following this, Pramod approached the Vigilance department and lodged a complaint.

Based on the plaint, the anti-corruption wing laid a trap and apprehended Mishra while accepting the gratification. In connection a case (10/2020) was registered and a probe initiated, he added.
