BERHAMPUR:During spike of Covid19 cases in Berhampur Municipal area some category of people always sought for loosing of their live and livelihood,because of frequent lock down, shut down.
Getting the message Bada Bazar police could not control their emotion and reach at 1st lane of Prahalad Nagar,Berhampur led by B Pati,SDPO,Town, IIC,Prashant Bhupati with relief to save their live and livelihoods for 17 people on Sunday night.
After reaching the police team found them in reverse polarity and swung into action launched a massive crackdown on a gambling den.
Acting on a tip-off, a group of police officers raided a location at 1st lane Prahalad Nagar under Bada Bazar Police limits and arrested 17 gamblers from the spot Sunday night.
This apart, 12 mobile phones and Rs 26,800/- cash have been recovered from the accused during the raid. It is being said that the gambling den was on the radar of police for some time.
In the last five months during Covid19 pandemic , more than 20 cases of gambling have been reported from the district with police arresting many veteran gamblers.
Notably, such illegal activities which have ruined the lives of several people in Berhampur police district. Resentment was also brewing among people as they alleged that such gambling units are the main source of criminal activities like chain snatching and others.
