DELHI:it refers to media-reports about private-sector giant Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) deciding to change name of their beauty-cream Fair-and-Lovely by removing word Fair from it, perhaps giving name Glow-and-Lovely. It is significant that the move comes just after Patanjali was in media-highlights to give its newly launched product Corona-kit claimed by launching company to be curative ayurvedic product to treat corona-patients. But since Corona-kit was launched before getting nod from Union Ministry of Ayush, supporters of launching company raised issue of beauty-cream being marketed in name of Fair-and-Lovely without any proof that use of cream may make complexion fair.

Otherwise also, naming and publicising any beauty-product for making complexion fair was not fair as it hurts feelings of those with dark complexion. However decision now taken by the private giant is step in right direction. HUL should also take lead in becoming first in becoming consumer-friendly by having product-packs in true metric spirit by packing only in packs of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 gms or mltrs. or kgms or litres, if not being already done, and should widely publicise so to be followed by other companies in larger public-interest.
