Minister, Ganjam Collector Inspect Gopalpur Cyclone Shelter and Beach ;Cyclone ‘Arnab’

Berhampur, October 27, 2026: In view of the possible cyclone ‘Arnab’, Commerce and Transport, Steel and Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena reviewed the safety arrangements for the public and the district administration’s preparedness in Ganjam district.
The Minister, accompanied by Ganjam Collector V. Keerthi Vasan, Berhampur SP Abhinav Sonkar and other local officials, visited the cyclone shelter and beach at Gopalpur to assess the prevailing situation and preparedness measures.
During the visit, the Minister met people taking shelter at the Government Upper Primary School in Bhavinaraayanpur and enquired about their accommodation, food and other essential facilities. He stressed the need to ensure that all people evacuated to safer locations receive adequate assistance and essential supplies.
The Minister also stated that eligible families residing on government land would be provided with houses under government schemes.
Rangailunda BDO Biswajit Ray, Gopalpur NAC Executive Officer Manoj Nahak, local public representatives and residents were present during the visit.
