Ganjam Collector Directs Continuous Monitoring of All Ghat Roads in the District

Bhanjanagar, October 27, 2026:In view of the possibility of a cyclone and heavy rainfall, Bhanjanagar Sub-Collector Umashankar Behera inspected Kalinga Ghat on Tuesday to assess the prevailing situation, potential landslide risks and safety arrangements.

The inspection was conducted following the directions of Ganjam District Collector V. Keerthi Vasan to ensure preparedness and minimise risks in vulnerable ghat areas during adverse weather conditions.

As heavy rainfall may trigger landslides and disrupt road connectivity, the Collector has directed the concerned departments to remain alert and continuously monitor the condition of all ghat roads across the district. He has also stressed the need for effective coordination among departments to ensure prompt action in the event of any unforeseen situation.

During the inspection, Additional Sub-Collector Tuliamma Pradhan, Tahasildar Abhispa Patnaik and Block Development Officer Bharati Devi, among other officials, were present.

The district administration has appealed to the public to avoid travelling through ghat areas and waterlogged or water-flowing stretches during the anticipated cyclone and heavy rainfall. People have also been urged to follow all safety advisories and instructions issued by the administration.
