EMINENT NEUROSURGEON PROF SANATAN RATH PASSES AWAY, NAVEEN PATNAIK CONDOLES DEATH

CUTTACK:Eminent neurosurgeon Prof. Sanatan Rath breathed his last at his residence at Kanika Chhak in Tulasipur area of Cuttack city.

According to sources, Rath was suffering from old-age related complications for quite some time, He was 86.Late Rath was a professor and Head of the Department of Neurosurgery, SCB Medical College,Cuttack.

Born on July 25, 1934, Prof. Rath achieved MBBS (Utkal) degree in 1957, MS (Surgery) from Patna in 1962, and MS (Neurosurgery) from CMC, Vellore in 1965.

Later, he joined as an assistant professor of Neurosurgery in SCB Medical Colleges and Hospital in Cuttack in May 1965 and continued to work as an associate professor from January 1968 to May 1970.He was appointed as the professor and head of the Department of Neurosurgery in May 1970.In 1991, the state government had appointed Rath as the Director of Medical Education.

Odisha Chief Minister,Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep grief over the demise of eminent Neurosurgeon Dr Sanatana Rath and conveyed his deep sympathies to the bereaved family. Chief Minister,Patnaik said that, Dr Rath’s immense contribution to health education in Odisha, especially in neurology will always be remembered.
