IGP Dr Satyajit Nayak Urges Students to Ensure Peaceful Campus Elections

Cuttack,11/10/2026:Inspector General of Police (IGP), Central Range, Dr Satyajit Nayak, IPS, has urged students to maintain peace, discipline and harmony during campus elections and ensure that the electoral process concludes peacefully. He appealed to student candidates and supporters to respect democratic values, uphold the spirit of healthy competition and avoid violence, intimidation and any activity that could disturb the academic environment. He emphasised that campus elections should reflect responsible leadership, mutual respect and democratic participation rather than confrontation. Dr Nayak has directed police officers under the Central Range to remain vigilant and take appropriate security measures to ensure peaceful polling and counting. Superintendents of Police and other officers have been asked to pay special attention to sensitive educational institutions, prevent the entry of outsiders who may attempt to create disturbances and take prompt action against any unlawful activity.
He appealed to students to cooperate with the police and college authorities, follow the prescribed rules and maintain the dignity of their institutions. The IGP stressed that peaceful elections are a collective responsibility and that students should set a positive example through discipline, tolerance and respect for democratic principles.
