Odisha Bandh Passes Off Peacefully in Brahmapur Police District: SP Avinab Sonakar

Brahmapur, 08/10/2026: The Odisha Bandh call given by nine political parties passed off peacefully across the Brahmapur Police District on Wednesday, with no untoward incident reported, said Brahmapur SP Avinab Sonakar.

In a statement to the media, SP Sonakar said that members and supporters of various political parties organised rallies, processions, demonstrations and picketing at different locations across the district in support of their demands.

However, the programmes were conducted without significantly affecting public order or causing major disruption to normal activities.

He said schools and colleges followed the prescribed SOPs during the bandh, while adequate security arrangements were put in place by the police to deal with any exigency.

A total of four platoons of armed police, along with officers and personnel from different police stations, were deployed at major junctions, important locations and other sensitive points across the city.

The police maintained a close watch throughout the bandh to ensure public safety and prevent any untoward incident.

SP Sonakar expressed his gratitude to the law-abiding citizens of the district for their cooperation and support in maintaining peace and public order during the bandh.
