Brahmapur Town Police Arrest Habitual Offender in January Burglary Case; Cash, Documents and Iron Rod Recovered

Brahmapur: Brahmapur Town Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with a burglary case registered in January this year and recovered cash, identity documents and an iron rod allegedly used to break the lock of the house.
The arrested accused has been identified as Santosh Sahu alias Kamelesh (23), son of Late Suri Sahu of Jagabandhu Sahi under Badabazar Police Station in Ganjam district.
The arrest was made in connection with Brahmapur Town PS Case No. 39 dated 19.01.2026, registered under Sections 331(4)/305/112(2)/3(5) of the BNS.
According to the police, the case was registered on the complaint of Janardan Panda (47) of Gandhi Nagar, 10th Lane Extension, Maruti Bihar, 3rd Lane, Brahmapur.
The complainant had reported that on 19 January 2026, he and his wife had gone to his father-in-law’s house at Ganjam. During their absence, unidentified persons allegedly entered their house after breaking the lock and committed theft.
During the investigation, police traced and arrested Santosh Sahu alias Kamelesh, described by police as a habitual offender.
Police also seized the following articles in connection with the case:
Rs.22,500 in cash
One brown-coloured bag containing a jacket
Aadhaar cards belonging to the complainant and his wife
One T-shaped iron rod, allegedly used for breaking the lock
Further investigation into the case is underway
