WILD LIFE SKINS SMUGGLING RACKET BUSTED BY STF

BHUBANESWAR: The Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch busted a racket involving the smuggling of animal hides in Dasapalla PS limit in Nayagarh district.
According to STF team officials, acting on a tip-off, an STF team reached the district and chalked a plan to nab the smugglers. Following a raid, officials of the STF approached the criminals and later arrested them.
One senior official informed, on the basis of reliable input STF has conducted a raid at Giripuja Jungle Daspalla PS in Nayagarh district about a deal of sale of leopard skin and deer skin by wild life criminals in the evening on Sunday as a result of which two accused persons namely Pratap Kumar Nayak of Village Sakin and Kishore Chnadra Dehury of Village Dedhasura were apprehended.
According to STF team the leopard Skins and two deer skins and other incriminating articles were seized from their possession of such Skins, for which they have been arrested on Monday and being forwarded to Daspalla Court. In connection STF PS case No- 18 u/s.379/411/120(B)IPC r/w 51 of wild life act 1972.
The seized Skins sent to Wild Life Institute of India. Dehradun for chemical testing. Further investigation is on to establish their connections with notorious elements in other states.
