Rayagada, Sept 27: A special Yoga and Meditation Camp was organized at Rayagada Autonomous College as part of the nationwide Seva Sankalp Abhiyan–2026.
The event, conducted at the institution’s Golden Jubilee Conference Hall, aimed at fostering mental resilience, mindfulness, and physical fitness among undergraduate and postgraduate students. Presiding over the inaugural session, Principal Dr. Saraswati Ray underscored the critical need for integrating holistic wellness into higher education. Emphasizing the dual pressures faced by modern learners, Dr. Ray observed that academic achievement must be anchored in personal well-being.
“Yoga and meditation are far more than physical exercises; they are vital instruments for cultivating focus, emotional balance, and lifelong self-discipline,” Dr. Ray noted while addressing the gathering. She urged students to adopt these time-tested practices into their daily regimen to alleviate academic stress and improve concentration.
Over 200 students actively took part in the camp, with a prominent turnout of National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets, who demonstrated keen discipline during the guided practical sessions. Participants were introduced to foundational asanas, breathing techniques (pranayama), and guided mindfulness routines tailored for stress management and cognitive clarity.
The camp was coordinated by Dr. Lizarani Sathpathy alongside NCC Officer Lt. Uday Naik. Key organizational support was extended by senior faculty members, including Mrs. K.K. Jani, Ashok Sahu, and Ramesh Chandra Huika, along with departmental heads and staff members, ensuring the seamless conduct of the practical modules.
The session concluded with an interactive resolution where participating students and faculty pledged to practice daily mindfulness, marking a successful milestone under the college’s ongoing civic and social outreach calendar.
