New Brahmapur SP Abhinav Sonkar Puts People-Centric Policing at the Forefront

Brahmapur,(24/09/26):Newly appointed Superintendent of Police (SP) of Brahmapur, Abhinav Sonkar, has assumed charge and outlined a people-centric policing strategy with emphasis on crime control, traffic management, public safety and prompt response to citizens’ grievances.

The new SP said special attention would be given to the safety and security of women, children and vulnerable sections of society. Cases involving such groups would be reviewed in detail, with emphasis on tracing victims, strengthening investigation and ensuring timely action, he said.

Sonkar also announced plans to intensify police action against duplicate and counterfeit manufacturing units, illegal activities and gambling dens. Enforcement measures would be strengthened to prevent such activities and maintain public order across the Brahmapur Police District.

With the festive season approaching, Mr.Sonakar said police would undertake a special drive against criminals and anti-social elements.

He stressed that strict action would be taken against those involved in activities that could disturb peace and public order.

After formally taking charge from outgoing SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M, Sonkar visited Maa Budhi Thakurani, the presiding deity revered by the people of Brahmapur, and sought blessings for his new assignment.

The new SP said his objective would be to further strengthen public confidence in the police through transparent, efficient and responsive policing. He also emphasised the need for closer interaction between the police and the public to address emerging law-and-order and civic-security concerns effectively.
