CM Majhi Transfers Rs 833 Cr Aid to Odisha Farmers Under CM‑KISAN

Bhubaneswar: A massive lifeline for Odisha’s farming community rolled out on Friday as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi pressed the button to transfer over Rs 833 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 41 lakh farmer families. The disbursement, under the CM‑KISAN scheme’s fifth instalment, provides Rs 2,000 each to small and marginal farmers, landless households, and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).

The state‑level programme, held at OUAT’s Krushi Shiksha Sadan, marked the launch of the 2026‑27 Rabi season assistance. Majhi described the initiative as a decisive step to strengthen rural livelihoods, reduce dependence on informal credit, and ensure timely investment in seeds, fertilisers, irrigation, and farm machinery.

Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo joined the Chief Minister at the event, while ministers fanned out across districts to oversee parallel disbursement programmes. Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari was in Khordha, Food Supplies Minister Krushna Chandra Patra in Dhenkanal, Health Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling in Kalahandi, and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena in Ganjam. Similar events were held in Cuttack, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Puri, and Jagatsinghpur.

Officials said the assistance is expected to provide crucial financial support ahead of the Rabi cultivation season, reinforcing Odisha’s commitment to farmer welfare and rural prosperity.
