Civic Bodies Extend Support to Rayagada’s Para-Athletes

Rayagada, September 4: Despite being categorized as an underdeveloped region, Rayagada regularly produces remarkable talent across sports, arts, and various other fields. Demonstrating this spirit, the district’s para-volleyball players have overcome physical limitations to march forward with self-reliance and pride. The district para-volleyball team has departed from Rayagada to compete in the State Level Para-Volleyball Championship held at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, a seven-member squad boarded the Junagarh train last Thursday en route to Bhubaneswar. These players include Rohit Nayak, Rathiram Goud, Bikash Mahanandia, Chiranjeebi Patika, Shankar Majhi, Renga Puala, and Plaban Kumar. Four members of this squad had already arrived at Kalinga Stadium earlier, while the remaining three departed on Thursday.

At the railway station, representatives from diverse organizations and prominent individuals turned out in large numbers to cheer on the athletes. Nagaraju: Government Advocate, Ganesh Sahu: District Secretary, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), Manjula Miniyaka: Vice Chairperson, Special Development Council,Chintu Choudhary: BJP Youth Leader, Ajay Kumar Rath: Advisor, District Journalists’ Association (Zilla Sambadika Sangha), Sakti Panigrahi: CSR Consultant, Bidulata Huika: State Convenor, Odisha Tribal Forum (Odisha Adibasi Manch); District President, South Odisha Protection and Development Council (Dakhin Odisha Surakhya O Unnayan Parishad). 

Several individuals and organizations also provided financial assistance. Additionally, Srikanth Panigrahi and Kailash Chandra Swain from the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities & District Sports Department respectively, Jalandhar Bacheli (President of the Rayagada District Para Sports Association), and peer Bijaya Meleka extended their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the players.
