Snatching Case: Badabazar Police Arrest Accused, Recover Stolen Mobile Phone, Cash and Scooty

Brahmapur, September 4, 2026: Badabazar Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with a snatching case and recovered the stolen mobile phone, cash and the scooty allegedly used in the crime.
The case was registered as Badabazar P.S. Case No. 660 dated September 2, 2026, under Sections 304/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to police, on September 2 at around 5:45 PM, Lisa Panigrahi (19), daughter of Shankar Panigrahi of Jamuniani Sahi, Brahmapur, and a teacher at Netaji Shishu Mandir School, Laxmi Nrusingha Sahi, was returning home on her bicycle.
When she reached near Jamuniani Sahi Chhak, two persons riding a scooty allegedly followed her and snatched her vanity bag before fleeing towards Raghunath Temple.
The vanity bag contained Rs. 3,500 in cash and a Vivo Y31 5G mobile phone.
During the subsequent investigation, police apprehended Sitesh Ghadei (23), son of Jyoti Ghadei of Dhanamera Sahi under Badabazar Police Station, at Haridakhandi near the HP Petrol Pump at around 8:30 AM on September 3.
Police also seized the Suzuki Burgman scooty bearing registration number OD 07 AU 4419, allegedly used in the crime.
A search of the accused led to the recovery and seizure of:

During interrogation, the accused allegedly stated that he, along with his associate Rohan Bisoyi of Dhanamera Sahi, had snatched the vanity bag near Jamuniani Sahi Chhak on September 2 and fled towards Raghunath Temple on the same scooty.
Police said Sitesh Ghadei has previous criminal cases registered at Badabazar Police Station, including Case Nos. 460/2024, 439/2024, 438/2024, 266/2024 and 305/2026.
The accused was arrested on September 3, 2026, and forwarded to the Hon’ble Court.
Further investigation is underway, and police are making efforts to apprehend the accused’s associate, Rohan Bisoyi.
