Gosaninuagaon Police Arrest 19-Year-Old in Assault, Extortion and Criminal Intimidation Case

Brahmapur, August 25, 2026: Gosaninuagaon Police have arrested a 19-year-old youth in connection with a case involving assault, attempt to cause grievous injury, extortion and criminal intimidation.
According to police, the case was registered on the basis of a written complaint filed by Santosh Kumar Panda of Sashtri Nagar under Gosaninuagaon Police Station. The accused allegedly abused and threatened the complainant while under the influence of alcohol and brandished a sword and bamboo lathi.
The incident reportedly took place on July 12, 2026, at around 5:30 PM near Nilakantha Nagar Chhaka. Police said the accused intercepted the complainant, assaulted him with a sword and allegedly attempted to run him over with a motorcycle. He also allegedly demanded Rs.30,000 and ₹50,000 from the complainant. When the complainant resisted, the accused allegedly threatened to kill him.
In connection with Gosaninuagaon PS Case No. 268 dated July 13, 2026, registered under Sections 126(2)/296/115(2)/109(1)/351(3)/308(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) read with Sections 25/27 of the Arms Act, police arrested Rohan Panigrahi (19), son of Late Tutu Panigrahi, resident of Sashtri Nagar, Gosaninuagaon, Ganjam district, on August 25, 2026, at around 12:15 PM.
Police further stated that Panigrahi had previously been involved in Gosaninuagaon PS Case No. 146 dated April 23, 2026, registered under similar provisions of the BNS and Arms Act.
The arrested accused is being forwarded to the competent court. Further investigation is underway.
