Three Arrested in Two IPL Betting in Brahmapur,Bada Bazar Police Crack Down on Illegal “Sky Exchange” Betting Network

Brahmapur, August 8, 2026: Bada Bazar Police have arrested three persons in connection with two separate cases involving alleged online IPL betting, gambling and cheating through the illegal betting platform “Sky Exchange.”
According to police, the arrests were made during investigations into two cases registered at Bada Bazar Police Station.
First Case: One Arrested
In Bada Bazar PS Case No. 279, dated April 30, 2026, police arrested Mohan Mukhi (31), son of Balu Mukhi of Dhanamerasahi under Bada Bazar Police Station, Ganjam.
He was arrested on the night of August 7, 2026, for his alleged involvement in online betting during the Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL match.
Police seized a Vivo Y21 mobile phone from his possession, bearing IMEI Nos. 866318052034054/47, along with SIM No. 8144873542.
Second Case: Two Arrested
In Bada Bazar PS Case No. 297, dated May 10, 2026, police arrested two more persons identified as Chandan Kumar Gouda (26), son of Kailas Chandra Gouda of Ratanpur under B. Sadar Police Station, Ganjam, and Pintu Sethi (30), son of Jaya Sethi of Ganesh Nagar under Bada Bazar Police Station, Ganjam.
Both were arrested on the night of August 6, 2026, for their alleged involvement in online betting activities connected with the Rajasthan Royals vs Gujarat Titans match.
Police seized a Vivo 200 mobile phone, bearing IMEI Nos. 866961079689317/09, with SIM Nos. 8338811133 and 8249495776, and an Oppo Reno 15c mobile phone, bearing IMEI Nos. 864052081066256/49, with SIM No. 8658242383.
Multiple Charges;Police said the three accused have been booked under Sections 296, 132, 351(2), 297, 318(4), 338, 61(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 4 and 5 of the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, 1978, Section 4 of the Public Gambling Act, and Sections 66-C and 66-D of the Information Technology Act.
