Media Cares pays tributes to Rayagada’s senior journalist G.V.R. Patnaik, holds condolence meeting

Rayagada, June 23: The untimely demise of Rayagada district’s senior journalist and long-time correspondent of Dainik Bhaskar, a national Hindi daily, G.V.R. Patnaik has cast a shadow of deep sorrow in the entire district’s media circles. He passed away on last Saturday. Late Patnaik had been actively working in the field of journalism for more than 25 years. While associated with Dainik Bhaskar, he used to present the problems of the people before the administration and society through news with sincerity, honesty and fearlessness. His simple behavior, brotherhood and love and guidance towards young journalists will always be remembered.
Wishing the eternal peace of his soul, a memorial meeting was organized by Media Cares at the local Sanskruti Bhawan, Rayagada last Tuesday. The journalists and well-wishers present at the meeting paid their deepest respects by garlanding the photograph of late Patnaik.
Senior journalists Badal Tah, Gop Ranjan Boxipatra, Rashmi Ranjan Dora, Rabindra Patakhandal, Jogeswar Das, Shiv Prasad Padhi, Ajay Rath, Ganesh Sahu, Dayananda Khadanga, Rabi Baidya, Manoj Sahu, Rayagada District Information and Public Relations Officer Debaraj Takari and many other journalists and well-wishers were present at the memorial meeting. The meeting commemorated the contribution of late G.V.R. Patnaik to the field of journalism, his dedicated work style and his sense of responsibility towards the society. The speakers present expressed their opinion that his passing away is an irreparable loss to the world of journalism, especially Hindi language, in Rayagada. DIPRO assured to recommend his name for Govt assistance, provided he was eligible. Members present unanimously resolved to make an appeal to other journalists and denizens to contribute generously to his family6 members, who are in financial stress. Finally, everyone prayed for the eternal peace of the late Patnaik and observed a two-minute silent prayer and dispersed.
