YSD Hosts Summer Learning Fair Showcasing Children’s Creativity and Learning

Berhampur, Ganjam: Youth for Social Development (YSD) successfully organized a Summer Learning Fair on 11 June 2026 in the Ankuli, Khodasingi, and Uttaramukhi areas of Berhampur city, Ganjam district. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from children, parents, community members, and volunteers from Ankuli, Jhadanga Palli, Satakutuni, Khodasingi, Uttaramukhi, and surrounding localities.

Over the past month, YSD conducted a Summer Learning Camp aimed at engaging children in meaningful learning and co-curricular activities during their summer vacation. To facilitate the program, 21 young volunteers were selected and provided intensive training. Following the training, the volunteers conducted foundational language and mathematics learning sessions for children studying in Classes IV, V, and VI.

The learning process was child-centered and activity-based, utilizing innovative teaching-learning materials to make education enjoyable and effective. More than 300 children participated regularly throughout the month and benefited from the program.

As part of the learning camp, children developed various projects in Mathematics, Language, and Science. These projects were showcased during the Summer Learning Fair, where children confidently presented their work and demonstrated their learning achievements.

The event was attended by Mr. A. Bhagaban, Coordinator of the Ankuli Cluster Resource Centre; Ms. Rashmita Rani Patra, Headmistress of Government Upper Primary School, Khodasingi; Assistant Teachers Ms. Tushara Rani Mishra, Ms. Trupti Rani Khodenga, and Ms. Sanjukta Pattnaik; and Mr. Surya Narayan Pattnaik, Headmaster of a Government Primary School. The guests appreciated the efforts of the children and volunteers and encouraged the students to continue learning with enthusiasm and curiosity.

The dignitaries described the Summer Learning Camp as a joyful learning initiative that successfully combined education with play and creativity. Parents also expressed their appreciation for the high quality and educational value of the projects prepared by the children.

To recognize the children’s participation and achievements, prizes were distributed, and certificates were awarded to the volunteers for their dedicated contribution to the program. The event was successfully coordinated with the support of Mr. Rashmi Ranjan Palei and Ms. Swarnamayi Rout from YSD.
