Jindal Steel Commemorates World Environment Day 2026 with ‘Inspired by Nature’ Theme

5th June, Angul: In alignment with the global observance of World Environment Day 2026, which focuses on urgent climate action, Jindal Steel, Angul organized a week-long series of programs dedicated to environmental sustainability. Adopting the theme “Inspired by Nature.For Climate. For Our Future,” the initiatives aimed to foster environmental consciousness among employees and their families.

On this occasion, a “Run for Environment” rally and a mega plantation drive were organized at the Jindal Nagar Township. Executive Director In-charge Mr. P. K. Biju Nair flagged off the rally in the presence of Mr.Damodar Mittal, Executive Director, Iron Zone, Executive Director Special Projects Mr.HridayeswarJha, Swami SatyabinduSaraswati, and other dignitaries. A large gathering of employees, alongside their family members and community residents, participated in the rally, which commenced at the Eden Garden area and concluded at the designated plantation site.
Adding to the significance of the event, Dr.Prafulla Kumar Behera, AES, State Pollution Control Board, also joined the celebration and planted a sapling at Jindal Nagar.
In addition, various community engagement programs and competitions were organized, including drawing and painting competitions for children, as well as essay and quiz competitions for spouses. Employees also participated in a dedicated online quiz designed to enhance awareness and knowledge of environmental standards, sustainability practices, and climate-related issues.
A specialized workshop on Domestic Waste Management was conducted to educate residents on source segregation through the two-bin system, home composting techniques, and creative reuse of waste materials. The initiative supports the township’s vision of becoming a “Zero Waste” community.
The successful conclusion of these events, marked by enthusiastic community participation and the announcement of competition winners, underscores Jindal Steel’s unwavering commitment to climate action, environmental stewardship, and sustainable development.
Jindal Foundation also celebrated the World Environment Day across Derjang, Malibrahmani, and OPJCC. As part of the programme, seed kits were distributed to students and farmers to promote gardening, sustainable food production, and nutritional backyard farming. A plantation drive was organised at Derjang with active community participation.
