Odisha bagged   five National Panchayat  awards grassroots good Governance

Bhubaneswar:Odisha bagged five awards at the National Panchayat Awards 2025, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi describing the feat as a “moment of great honour for the state” and crediting robust grassroots governance for the recognition.

The most prominent among the honours went to Ganjam district, which was conferred the Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar-2025, ranking it the second-best district panchayat in the country. Two other panchayats from Ganjam also made the cut: Potalampur Panchayat under the Healthy Panchayat category and Mandar Panchayat under Socially Just and Socially Secure Panchayat, both receiving the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar-2025.

Keonjhar’s Padua Panchayat was awarded under the Water-Sufficient Panchayat category, while Hatibandha Panchayat of Sundargarh district received recognition in the Clean and Green Panchayat category

Majhi congratulated elected representatives, officials and local communities for the collective effort, adding that the success demonstrates how community participation can drive meaningful rural transformation.

 He said the achievements align with the vision of a “Viksit Odisha” and expressed confidence that panchayats across the state will continue setting new benchmarks in inclusive rural development.
