Drive against IPL Betting Continues in Berhampur – Bbada Bazar Polic Bust IIegal Online Betting Racket; One Held

Berhampur,(10/05/26): Acting on a tip-off, the officials of Bada Bazar police station in Berhampur caught one master IPL plaer from auto Nagar area of Berhampur city.
The accused has been identified as Rajani Ranjan Rauta (27 years), S/o Basanta Kumar Rauta, Santi Nagar, 4th Lane, PS-BadaBazar, Berhampur.
According to police, Rajani Ranjan was running the IPL betting racket in Berhampur and luring local youths on the promise of high returns.He was reportedly operating through online gaming .The police have seized

A case has been registered against Rajani Ranjan U/S 296/132/351(2)/297/318(4)/338/61(2)/3(5) BNS / Sec 4/5 Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act 1978 / Sec 4 of Public Gambling Act / Sec.66-C/66-D I.T. Act.
Preliminary investigation reveals that, On 09.05.2026 at 9:30 PM, SI Deepak Kumar Das and team, during routine patrolling at First Gate, Berhampur, received reliable information about illegal online betting near Auto Nagar. A raid was conducted and accused Rajani Ranjan Rauta was apprehended while actively operating on the “Sky Exchange” platform and betting on the ongoing IPL match (Rajasthan Royals vs Gujarat Titans).
The accused was facilitating betting by providing IDs and passwords via WhatsApp to customers. He sourced betting panels from other accused persons presenting them as genuine and law-approved.
Rajni Ranjan has duped many people after luring them to bet money in the online gaming, they added.
Accused was arrested on 10.05.2026 and forwarded to court. Freezing of linked accounts is in process. Investigation continuing to trace other persons involved in the racket.
