Villagers Attack Cops During Ganja Raid in Gajapati, 13 Arrested

Palakhemundi, ( 16/04/26):A tense gripped unfolded in Odisha’s Gajapati district when police personnel were allegedly attacked and held hostage by villagers during a raid on illegal ganja operations.

Acting on intelligence, an Adava police team moved into Mahapadar and Gudripanka villages to crack down on ganja trafficking.

 But the operation quickly turned volatile as locals confronted the police, reportedly assaulting them and detaining their vehicles.

Additional forces were rushed in to rescue the trapped personnel, ending the standoff. Police later arrested 13 villagers linked to the attack and registered a case at Adaba Police Station.

Police officials confirmed that investigations are underway into both the assault and the scale of the ganja trade in the locality.
