Police Busted Off Season Gambling Den in Berhampur

Berhampur,04/04/2026:Sadar police in the Berhampur area have busted an illegal gambling den in the Lathi area, leading to the arrest of five individuals and the seizure of nine vehicles.
This this is Continuing process of sadar police today they crackdown on illegal gambling activities, Berhampur Sadar Police has successfully raided a gambling den operating in an abandoned factory premises and arrested five persons.
According to police on the evening of April 3, 2026, acting on a credible tip-off regarding active gambling at an Atta Factory in Lathi village, a police team led by ASI Pradhan conducted a surprise raid.
Upon seeing the police, approximately 9 to 10 individuals attempted to flee. In their bid to escape, the accused persons used force, pushing and pulling the police personnel to obstruct them from performing their lawful duties.
After a brief struggle, the police team successfully apprehended five accused persons, while others managed to escape under the cover of darkness .

Seizure List
The following items were recovered and seized from the spot: 1. Cash: Rs₹36,900/- (in various denominations) 2. Vehicles: 09 Motorbikes/Scooters (including Pulsar, Activa, Suzuki Access, and NTORQ models) 3. Others: 24 playing cards and 03 Android mobile phones.
Legal Action
A case has been registered at Berhampur Sadar P.S. (Case No. 181/2026) under Sections 132/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)—pertaining to use of force to obstruct a public servant—read with Section 3 of the Odisha Prevention of Gambling (OPG) Act.
The arrested accused persons were forwarded to the Hon’ble Court today, April 4, 2026. Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the remaining individuals who fled the spot.
