To extort money, five anti-socials terrorises with Petrol bomb;finally rounded by Berhampur Police to jail

Berhampur, 3rd, Apri,26:On the written report of complainant Umakanta Sahu (60) of Chikiti Pentho, nuagaon police registered a case against five veteran anti-socials elements and started investigated into
The complainant cited on his reports, five anti-social elements demanded five lakhs dadavati, after they failing which threw a petrol bomb at his house.
By the direction of Superintendent of Police, Dr, Sarvana Vivek,M,IPS k.Nuagaon police station in-charge with his staff into action and the five were rounded up at Bhubaneswar. The team have seized 1. Remnants of exploded patrol bombs. .One black colour Hero Honda Splendour motor cycle and One white colour Dzire car – Regd. No. OD 07 AT 0854.The five were identified and arrested:
1. Subham Panigrahy (20) of village Kharanipada,.
2. Kanha @ Kanhu Charan Sahu (21) of Odia Sahi, Chikiti Pentho, PS-K Nuagaon.
3. Rosan @ Sarthak Patra (21) of village Amundi, PS-K Nuagaon.
4. Nilamani Patra (28) of village Satrumardanpur, PS-K Nuagaon.
5. Goutam Pradhan (27) of village Medinipur, PS Golanthara.
In a statement police said, So far the investigation of this case it revealed that the accused persons demanded heavy amount Rs. 5 Lakh rupees from Simanchal Sahu who is the son of Umakant the complainant. Simmental Sahu denied to pay the demanded money, the accused persons made plan and to throw petrol bomb to the house of complainant in order to threaten him. . They attempted to burn the house.
When the accused persons failed to collect their ‘Dada Vati’ mission they acted and set their plan on 31.03.2026 at about 09.00 PM all five came to the spot and threw two petrol bombs aimed to the entrance of the house and escaped narrowly from spot. As a result the petrol bomb exploded and caught fire.
However the police rush to the spot,fire was extinguished by neighbours in presence of police Following the case raid was conducted at different places to arrest the accused persons. Failing all attempts with their limited jurisdiction and source to block the all check
IIC Knuagaon PS formed a team and during his investigation found that the accused persons have taken shelter in a hotel in Bhubaneswar.
IIC and team proceeded to Bhubaneswar and conducted raid at the Hotel in Bapuji Nagar and apprehended the accused persons with the assistance of local police on Thursday,02.04.2026
Friday they produced before the Hon’ble Court of JMFC, Patrapur
They were chargesheeted,s U/s- 331(4)/109(1)/3(5) BNS/9-B Arms Act/3 & 4 Explosive Substances Act turned to U/s 111(2)(b)/331(4)/109(1)/326(g)/ 308(5)/ 3(5) BNS/R.W. Sec. 3 & 4 E.S. Act/R.W. Sec. 9(B) I.E. Act.
