Bhubaneswar,( 06/03/26):The Election Commission will begin the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Odisha from April 1, 2026, in an effort to ensure a transparent, accurate and updated voter list ahead of upcoming elections.

Announcing the exercise, State Chief Electoral Officer R. S. Gopalan said that around 90% of the state’s electoral database has already been revised through earlier updates.

The new drive will focus on the remaining portion, with officials aiming to cover at least 8 per cent more and move towards a fully updated voter roll across the state.

The revision exercise will take reference from the 2002 electoral rolls, which was the last comprehensive intensive revision in Odisha. Officials described the upcoming drive as a ground-level verification process being conducted after more than two decades.

Voters have been encouraged to assist the process by providing details from the 2002 rolls, such as their booth number or name listed at the time. Those unable to trace their records from that year can submit Form-11 to request corrections or inclusion in the updated rolls.

Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will carry out door-to-door verification to ensure the accuracy of entries and update voter information where required.

Gopalan also warned against duplicate voter registrations, stating that individuals must retain their name in only one constituency. Keeping multiple entries is punishable under election laws. He urged citizens to cooperate with officials and verify their details to help maintain a clean and credible electoral system.
