One arrested for running Hookah bar despite warning(!)

Berhampur,( 27/02/26): On 25.02.2026 reliable information was received regarding illegal Hookah bar running in Church Road, Berhampur. As per the credible information a raid was conducted by IIC and his team on Hookah Bar running in a restaurant in the name as ADDA HOTEL.
During raid found some people were found smoking Hookah inside the restaurant. Owner failed to produce any valid license or authority and police seized 05 Hookah pots, 3 filters, one pocket of Coil, 06 Chilam, 7 Pipes, 05 Hookah pipes, 5 springs, 8 Hookah Masala.
Here Odishabrta would like to give a recall, durinng the year of 2025 in the third week of march police have received lot of complaints from concerned parents and citizens that illegal hookah bars have started to operate in Berhampur city where minors are being supplied with Hookah smoking where Tobacco and other illegal smoking agents are used.On 20.03.2025 Berhampur Police team conducted simultaneous raids at the Hooka Bars running at different hotels/restaurants by five teams.
These tabaco products are injurious to Human Health and dangerous chemicals are added to these Tabaco products to make it favourable and to increase intoxication to humans. These type of chemicals are noxious to the health of general public and cause cancer including lung cancer.
In this regard B. Town police registered a fresh case on dated. 25.02.2026 against the main nawab accused B. Ameer Kumar Patra . He was served warning notice and with a Star mark not to repeat despite earlier warning and it should not come to our notice further.
However on 26.02.2026 a raid was conducted at ADDA HOTEL and police seized 1) 04 Hookah Pots, 2) 10 Hookah Filters, 4) 03 Hookah Pipes, 5) 03 Pockets of Hookah Masala at the Hookah Bar from accused B. Ameer Kumar Patra.
This Case Reference: Berhampur Town PS Case No. 87 dt- 26.02.2026 U/s-296/274/275 BNS/Sec-21/22/24 of the Cigarettes and other Tobacco Product (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade Commerce Production Supply and Distribution Act.
Violating of repeated warning from police theaccused B. Ameer Kumar Patra (36 of Laxmi Nrusingha Street, Berhampur was arrested on 27.02.2026 and forwarded to Honble court today in this case.
