Over one crore rupees retrieved from hundi of Maa Majighariani in a span of seven months

Rayagada, January 24: Over one crore rupees have been retrieved from the hundi of Sri Sri Maa Majighariani Temple, the presiding famous deity of Rayagada district. This amount was donated by devotees in a span of six to seven months. The hundi was opened by the temple management committee and the counting began in the presence of the magistrate and police.
Temple management committee chairman informed that One crore Five lakhs Fifty Two thousand & Eight Hundred Forty Five rupees, 30 grams of gold and 2150 grams of silver, were retrieved from the said hundi. Along with this, 23 foreign urrencies from five countries like America, Sri Lanka and UAE have been received. It is believed that some devotees living abroad or foreign devotees who came to have darshan of Maa donated these foreign money in the hundi. Along with this, outdated 500, 1000 and 2000 rupee note each were withdrawn.
The counting took place for 8 hours. On last July, 2025, 1 crore 4 lakhs 36 thousand 963 rupees, 83 grams of gold and 2505 grams of silver were taken out from the hundi. Along with this, foreign currency notes of various countries were also taken out. The money taken out of the hundi was deposited in the Union Bank of India, while the gold and silver were kept in the treasury. 250 women volunteers, including bank employees, participated in the counting. Security was tightened by the police and temple security personnel during the opening of the hundi and counting. “Though crores of rupees are donated by the devoutees from around the district including neighbouring states like AP, Telengana and Chhattisgarh for divine grace of Mother Majhighariani, quality amenities are yet to be availed by the general public.
The Present Govt has allocated around Rs.Six Crores for the development of infrastructures in and around the deity and it is expected that required facilities will be available for the devoutees, said M Vidyasagar, a staunch devoutee of Maa Mahjighariani.
