CITU, SUNDERGARH DISTRICT STAGED PROTEST IN SUPPORT OF WORKERS AND THEIR PROBLEMS

ROURKELA: CITU has staged protest in support of workers in unorganized sector who are the worst victim of corona effect and subsequent lockdown in PAN India. CITU, Sundergarh district has also staged protest showing solidarity for the workers in unorganized sector which is 96% of the unorganized sector for whom Govt. has not given any financial benefits as they have given for other sectors. These poor laborers or workers have given all support during these 46 days lockdown as govt has laid down guidelines in line of lockdown and none is thinking about their financial position and their family members’ survival. How they will live without income and govt.’s financial benefits have been extended from time to time. This protest was staged in front of the labor commissioner office at Rourkela and presented a memorandum to the Hon’ble CM, Odisha through Joint Labour Commissioner, Herbet Lugun. This memorandum was given by State General Secretary, Bishnu Mohanty along with many other leaders and representatives of different association affiliated to CITU. The members who participated this protest were Biman Maity, District General Secretary, Pramod samal, , Jahangir Alli, State Vice-President, State Secretary, Basant Nayak, Srimanta Behera, Surendra Das, Rajkishore Pradhan, Prabhat Mohanty, Biswajit Majhi, Arindam Dutta and many others. They have also organized one meeting in CITU, Office at Rourkela which was participated by top officials of many Associations affiliated to CITU.
