Odisha to Get Seven New Government Nursing Colleges

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is set to enhance the healthcare sector by establishing seven additional nursing colleges across the state. Currently, Odisha operates eight government nursing colleges and 21 Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) training centres.

The state Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has approved a proposal to frame the Odisha Nursing Education Service (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules-2025, which will govern the appointment and promotion of faculty in government nursing colleges and ANM training centres.

Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja stated that the new nursing colleges will be developed at medical colleges and hospitals through a centrally sponsored scheme. The 2025 Rules will streamline recruitment processes for base-level posts such as tutors and facilitate career advancement for eligible faculty members.

“The introduction of Odisha Nursing Education Service Rules-2025 will help fill existing vacancies, promote qualified faculty to higher positions and bolster nursing education across Odisha,” said Ahuja.
