Girl Found Burnt

Bargarh: A Class 8 student from Phiringimal village in the Bargarh district is in critical condition. Police are investigating, whether it was a case of self-immolation or was some ghastaly attack, is being investigated.

This shocking echoes a similar tragedy in Balasore,  Kendrapara and Puri districts just days ago.

The minor girl, who was staying at her uncle’s house, reportedly doused herself in petrol and set herself on fire on a local football ground on Sunday. She was found with severe burns and immediately rescued.

She was first taken to a local hospital before being transferred to VIMSAR hospital in Burla, Sambalpur, due to her critical condition.

Peronnel from the Gaisilet police station have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. It remains unclear whether the student attempted to take her own life or if there was foul play.

This incident marks similar cases in Odisha in recent weeks, following a similar event at FM College in Balasore and another in Pattamundai of Kendrapara district. A girl was also torched in Balanga of Puri district. Authorities are awaiting further details as the investigation continues.
