1 Kg Gold, 44 Plots Unearthed During Vigilance Raid On MVI’s Hidden Wealth
Boudh: Odisha’s Vigilance department has unearthed a staggering amount of assets allegedly belonging to a motor vehicle inspector (MVI) in Boudh district, Golap Chandra Hansdah.
Following a raid across six locations, sleuths discovered 44 plots, one kilogram of gold, and bank deposits totalling Rs 1.34 crore.
The investigation was initiated based on allegations that Hansdah had accumulated properties disproportionate to his known sources of income.
In addition to the gold and bank deposits, officials seized Rs 2.38 lakh in cash and found a diary detailing “benami” transactions and a staggering Rs 40 lakh spent on his daughter’s medical studies.
The properties include a double-storey building in Baripada and 44 plots with a sale deed value of Rs 1.49 crore, primarily located in Baripada and one in Balasore.
Hansdah, who joined government service in 1991 and was promoted to MVI in 2020, is currently posted in Boudh. The Vigilance technical wing is now assessing the total value of the properties as the investigation continues.
