“NTPC Talcher Kaniha Celebrates 37th Foundation Day with Emphasis on Excellence and Community Empowerment

Bureau,Odishabarta, Talcher (Kanhia),02-05-2025:NTPC Talcher Kaniha marked its 37th Foundation Day on 2nd of June 2025, commemorating over three decades of outstanding contributions to energy production and community development. With an installed capacity of 3,010 MW, it remains Odisha’s largest power station and the second-largest within NTPC’s portfolio.

The celebrations began with a spirited morning walkathon, where employees and all Union Associations and CISF and NTPC Employees came together in unity and enthusiasm.
The Raising Day ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the NTPC flag at the Administrative Building, symbolizing the station’s enduring commitment to excellence.
The celebration was graced by prominent dignitaries including Shri K. Narasimbha Reddy, Executive Director of NTPC Talcher Kaniha, Shri Satya Rama Krishna,GM (O&M) Shri S.S. Rao, GM (Maint. & ADM), all HOD’s, Union Associations, CISF personnel, and all NTPC employees.
During the event, Shri Narasimbha Reddy highlighted the station’s remarkable achievements over the past year. He proudly announced that NTPC Talcher Kaniha had secured a Business Excellence score exceeding 600 for the second consecutive year and achieved 100.67% ash utilization in the financial year 2024–25. A record 50.50 Lakh Metric Tons (LMT) of fly ash were supplied for government road projects, marking an impressive 209% increase compared to the previous year.
Environmental sustainability remains a core focus, with over 16,000 trees planted using the innovative Miyawaki method. The station also commissioned a 2.5 TPD Bio-Pellet Machine to effectively utilize horticultural waste. In recognition of its robust safety standards, NTPC Talcher Kaniha received the International Safety Award from the British Safety Council for the fourth consecutive year.
Shri Reddy also highlighted the CSR initiatives for the Girl Empowerment Mission 2025.As the event concluded with a ceremonial cake-cutting, the spirit of celebration and achievement resonated through the station.
