SURAT RETURNEES FLEE QUARANTINE CENTRES IN GANJAM (?).

Ganjam: In Beguniapada Block over 100 Surat returnees fled from quarantine centres alleging baseless blame to District Administration in Ganjam district on Sunday.

On getting information about the unruly situation, District Collector Vijay Amrut Kulange, SP Brijesh Ray, Beguniapada BDO Debabara Pradhan, Kodala tehsildar Prabhat Kumar Parida reached the spots and discussed with the returnees about their problems at the quarantine centres.

District Collector Vijay Amrut Kulange,warned such unruly individuals that any violation of quarantine protocols will be dealt with seriously.

According to reports, around 250 Surat returnees were kept in quarantine facilities at Janata High School in Beguniapada and Adarsha Vidyalaya at Ragapur in Ganjam after their arrival in the state on Saturday.However, some of them were seen walking out of the quarantine centres alleging lack of basic facilities. Though some locals tried to stop them from moving .

The police managed to capture 50 of them at Kanchana junction and  a search is underway to nab others.Police teams led by Kodala IIC Debashis Mohanty and Beguniapada Outpost In-charge Dipti Ranjan Behera are reportedly searching the other returnees.

It may be mentioned here that the Odisha Government has made it mandatory for all migrant workers to stay in institutional quarantine centres for 14-days after they enter the state.
