OSRTC Suffers Over Rs 45 Cr Loss In Last 2 Years

Bhubaneswar: Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) has suffered a total loss of Rs 454,672,347.24 during the past two years, informed state Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena in the Odisha Assembly on Thursday.
In a written answer to a question raised by Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, Minister Jena informed that OSRTC is at present running a total of 388 buses across 260 routes.
He said that OSRTC has suffered major losses during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 fiscal years.
According to the data provided by him, OSRTC had a a net turnover of Rs 145.28 Crore in the 2022-2023 fiscal year and Rs 156.44 Crore in the 2023-2024 fiscal year. But the total expenditure of OSRTC was Rs 164.12 Crore in 2022-23 and Rs 183.07 Crore in 2023-24.
The total loss of OSRTC in 2022-23 was Rs 18.83 Crore a loss of Rs 26.63 Crore in 2023-24. The OSRTC incurred an overall loss of Rs 45.47 Crore during these two years.
