2 Cattle Smugglers Injured In Encounter With Police in Sambalpur Dist

Sambalpur: Two cattle smugglers were injured and arrested by the police in Sambalpur district following an encounter in the wee hours of Tuesday.
When a police team intercepted a truck transporting 30 cattle illegally to West Bengal at a checkpoint near station area, the armed smugglers escorting the truck opened fire at the cops.
The policemen retaliated and the two smugglers sustained bullet injuries. One of them was hit in his left leg below the knee while the other was pierced by a bullet on his right leg below the knee.Both injured cattle smugglers have been admitted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences in Burla. The police have seized two pistols, four rounds of ammunition, the truck loaded with cattle, and the car used by the smugglers to escort the truck.
The identities of the smugglers have not been disclosed by the police. Further investigation into the case is underway.
