118 Maoists Slain In Odisha Over The Last Decade

Bhubaneswar: Over the past ten years, security forces in Odisha have neutralized 118 Maoists during anti-Maoist operations, informed Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi the state Assembly on Monday.
In a written reply to a question put by BJP MLA Kanhai Charan Danga, the CM informed that between 2015 and January 25, 2025, security personnel eliminated 118 CPI (Maoist) cadres across the state.
Apart from it, in a joint operation with Chhattisgarh Police, Odisha Police successfully eliminated 17 Maoists, including a senior central committee member of the banned outfit.
He added that in the last 10 years, 315 Maoists and their associates have been arrested, while 238 Maoists/militias have surrendered. He reiterated the government’s commitment to making Odisha free from Maoist insurgency by 2026.
To check Maoist activities, the state has deployed 72 companies of central armed forces, 32 special security battalions, 35 Special Operation Group (SOG) teams, 600 District Volunteer Force (DVF) jawans, 75 platoons of India Reserve Battalion, and more than 350 Odisha Special Striking Force personnel.
The CM also informed that modernization of security forces is being made by equipping them with drones, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) interceptors, advanced communication systems, modern weaponry, and specialized anti-terrorism training.
