BJD To Hold Protests Across Odisha Tomorrow For Not Observing Panchayati Raj Diwas on March 5

Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal has decided to hold protest demonstrations across Odisha on March 6 (Thursday) against the decision of the state government to shift observation of Panchayati Raj Dibas in Odisha from March 5 to April 24.

According to the BJD leaders, Odisha was celebrating the State Panchayati Raj Dibas on March 5. They criticized the BJP government’s decision to observe it on April 24.

According to the BJD, they will observe Biju Patnaik Jayanti on March 5 in grand way and will have protests on March 6.

It is to be noted that April 24 is the National Panchayati Raj Day (National Local Self-Government day) which is observed by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

The 73rd Constitutional Amendment Act of 1993 became effective on 24 April 1993.
