Odisha Police Seizes Over 10,852 Kg Ganja in Massive Crackdown in Kandhamal

Kandhamal: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Odisha Police seized over 10,852 kilograms of ganja during coordinated raids across multiple locations in Kandhamal district.
According to the state police headquarters, the largest seizure – 6,520 kg – was made from a forest near Daruogonda Ghati jungle, while 1,520 kg was confiscated from Kasinpadar village in Phiringia, 2,052 kg from Sudruju village, 650 kg from Jakripada jungle in Baliguda and 110 kg from Sunapanga village in Tikabali.
The operation was led by Kandhamal SP B C Harisha, following instructions from DGP Y B Khurania. A special task force was deployed to track and dismantle the smuggling network. Acting on intelligence inputs, police had been monitoring the accused for several days before executing the raids. One person was arrested in connection with the seizure.
Kandhamal police have intensified their drive against ganja cultivation and smuggling, aiming to eliminate illegal hemp cultivation by March 31. The DGP has directed officials to escalate enforcement efforts to eradicate the drug trade in the region.
