Injured Whale Shark Washed to Sunapur Beach In Ganjam Dist Dies

Berhampur: An injured 21-foot-long Whale Shark was washed to the Sunapur Beach in Ganjam district on Monday. Despite all efforts by the local fishermen and the forest department, the huge marine animal could not be saved.

It was washed ashore at around 11 am on Monday. A large crowd gathered up to have a glimpse of the Whale Shark.

The local fishermen and the forest officials tried to push back the Whale Shark into the sea as it had got stuck on the beach.Veterinary doctors also provided treatment to the injured marine creature. But it succumbed to its injuries.

After a postmortem, the dead Whale Shark was buried.

The cause of its injuries has not been ascertained. The 21-foot long Whale Shark was over 1.5 tons in weight.
