BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has appealed to the people to take care of the returnees from other states. “This is a life and death situation for Odisha people as their survival depends on how efficiently they handle the situation,” Patnaik urged the people, in a video message, on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister said that 10 days ago the number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Odisha was 61 which have now doubled. But, there is nothing to panic as we can overcome the problem by remaining careful. The coronavirus is in control because of your support but the next few days are very crucial, said Patnaik.

The registration must be ensured for the returnees from other states and will be quarantined for our safety. Such efforts will put Odisha in the number one position in the entire country, he added.

After Nizamuddin, now West Bengal returnees have emerged as a new challenge for Odisha and once people from other affected states return, the number of positive cases might increase, the CM apprehended.

He said that taking care of the brothers and sisters returning from West Bengal is our third challenge. They are our children, brothers, and sisters, the Chief Minister said, and added that taking care of them is our responsibility.

Describing the coronavirus is a matter of life and death, Patnaik said the infection can multiply even 100 times by 10 percent people. If the regulations and advisories of the government are obeyed sincerely then Odisha can create history in the entire country in containing COVID-19.
