Odisha: Mo Bus Speed to be Capped at 40 Kmph in Urban Zones, Announces Minister
Bhubaneswar: To tackle reckless driving, Odisha’s Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra announced that the speed of Mo Bus services would be restricted to 40 kmph, with speed governors installed on all vehicles.
The new measures, revealed on Wednesday, aim to enhance passenger safety and reduce accidents.
Minister Mohapatra stated that drivers will face strict penalties for exceeding the speed limit. For buses travelling outside city limits, a cap of 50 kmph will apply. Furthermore, the government will implement mandatory alcohol testing for drivers before they begin their routes, with additional random checks conducted during shifts.The Minister has directed officials to ensure these safety protocols are enforced immediately, emphasising the importance of regular speed governor and driver license checks across the Mo Bus fleet.
