Orissa HC Orders Arrest of Chinese Ship for Gas Oil Supply Shortfall
Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Tuesday ordered the arrest of the Chinese vessel MV Zhe Hai 505 due to a dispute involving the supply of marine gas oil to Scandi Trading Limited.
Justice V. Narasingh, presiding over the admiralty suit, decreed that the vessel must settle a claim of Rs 99 lakh under Section 4(1)(l) of the Admiralty (Jurisdiction and Settlement of Maritime Claims) Act, 2017.
The court found the claim by Scandi Trading Limited to be maintainable and emphasized that without the arrest order, the plaintiff’s case would be jeopardized as the vessel was likely to leave Paradip Port soon.
Consequently, the court issued a separate judge order to arrest MV Zhe Hai 505 at Paradip Port.
